My name is Afonso Borges and I specialise in creating illustrations of medical and scientific content which can be used for teaching, documenting or presenting data, advertising scientific projects or institutions, etc.

With an academic degree in Marine Biology and a Masters in Scientific Illustration, I have acquired over the years a deep understanding of both fields and how they best compliment each other. I have a vast experience in the fields of anatomy and dissection, laboratory work, and even attending surgeries in the OR. On the other hand, I have mastered a wide range of both traditional and digital painting techniques (watercolour, gouache, color pencil, graphite, pen and ink - as well as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator).

I work in Berlin as a full-time illustrator for AMBOSS since 2016,

among a team of medical doctors and fellow illustrators,

but I'm always open to discuss interesting projects!
